Autism & ABA

autism spectrum disorders...

Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs) are lifelong conditions, present from early childhood. ASD, as the name suggests, is a spectrum of disorders and affects each individual differently.

Individuals experience difficulties in social communication, social interaction and restricted or repetitive patterns of behaviour or interests.

ABA is the only evidence-based, recognised therapy for those on the autistic spectrum and is most effective when used intensively and early in a child’s development.

Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) is shown to effectively teach individuals to learn important life skills such as communication, self help, social and play skills.

Therapy is flexible, functional and fun. It engages your child in motivating activities that maximise learning opportunities. Strategies and progress are monitored and reviewed, alterations are made when needed to ensure that new skills are acquired.

Alongside teaching new skills,  behaviour management plans detail how to reduce undesired behaviours that are detrimental to learning or harmful to the individual or others. This can include aggression, excessive tantrumming, property destruction and self-injury.
